How Goblin works

Everything a holder needs: where scraps come from, how colours are rolled, what stitching does and where the fee goes.

Overview

Goblin is a token on Ethereum where the token is also the art. Every whole Goblin token you hold is a scrap: a piece of one 3D creature. There are 10,000 ids, one for each of Ethereum's first 10,000 blocks.

Most scraps carry only one or two of the creature's eight parts. Holders stitch scraps together until one Goblin has all eight. Each stitch burns tokens, so supply only goes down as people build.

Scraps and parts

Goblin #n comes from Ethereum block n − 1. Hashing that block decides which parts the id carries. That never changes and anyone can recompute it.

PartWhat it covers
finsThe torn bat-wing fins behind the head
spikesThe crest of spikes along the skull
hideSkin across the head, neck and shoulder
browThe heavy ridge above the eye
eyeThe single glowing eye
snoutThe hooked snout and nostrils
fangsBoth rows of teeth
jawThe open lower jaw and throat

Colours and randomness

When a slot becomes a scrap, each of its parts rolls one of nine colours. The randomness comes from a public beacon and is verified on-chain, so nobody can choose or predict a roll.

Rarity is the sum of −log₂(odds) over every colour a piece carries. More parts and rarer colours give a higher score.

Stitching

  1. Choose scraps you hold whose parts don't overlap.
  2. The first id keeps its number and gains the other parts, with their colours as rolled.
  3. The other tokens are burned and their ids retire permanently.
  4. A Goblin with all eight parts is complete.

Stitching only costs Ethereum gas. It cannot be undone.

Fees

A 2.7% creator fee applies to every trade in the official pool. It is allocated as follows:

TeamThe people building and running Goblin1.0%
Development and auditsContracts, renders and independent security reviews0.6%
Marketing and growthReveals, partnerships and community0.5%
Holder rewardsBuybacks and rewards for holders who stitch0.4%
Treasury and liquidityReserves that keep the pool healthy0.2%

Programmable's own platform fee is set separately. Allocations and payouts are published regularly, with transaction links.

Security

  • Contracts have no owner, no proxy and no pause once deployed.
  • An independent security review is planned before launch. The report will be linked here.
  • Goblin will never ask for a seed phrase or private key.
